March 11, 2006 S.T.T.F.D. did the last of three car washes the department does each year. For this last one it was a beautiful day for a car wash.
On November 2, 2005 our Training and Safety Officer put on a presentation on fire safety for a group of Cub Scouts in Mt. Pleasant. The scouts learned E.D.I.T.H., smoke detectors, about 911, Stop, Drop and Roll and watched as Matt ( waiting to turn 18 so he can join the department) put the gear on piece by piece till he was crawling on the floor in a make believe search.
October 9, 2005 at Shepherd Station One was our Fire Prevention Kickoff Breakfast. On the menu was scramble eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, hash browns, cinnamon rolls, coffee and orange juice. We had close to 200 guest join us for breakfast, our guest was not only able to have breakfast but was able to talk and view the Isabella County Haz-mat trailer, Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Fire Department's Platform Arial and they were able to take a ride in the bucket. Mt. Pleasant Fire Department brought their Smoke house for the kids to learn on fire safety. The DNR and Smokey the Bear was on hand to answer question and parents were able to get their kids I.D. made.
This our Training and Safety Officer giving a presentation to a Segment II Driver Education class for 15 to 17 year old. The kids learned from lecture and PowerPoint presentation and some videos, to slow down and give us room at accident scenes, move to the right and Michigan move over laws, Drinking and Driving and the importance of wearing seatbelts.
